N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine and is used by the body to produce glutathione, an important endogenous antioxidant. NAC and cysteine also have antioxidant activity of their own while supporting the body's production of glutathione.

Augmented NAC uses innovative technology during capsule production to enhance the properties of N-Acetylcysteine. According to the manufacturer, this enhancement is reflected in its antioxidant, detoxifying and protective capacities while allowing a reduced amount of NAC of only 200mg per capsule.
